Michael Anthony Copeland, born January 1,1960, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late John and Louise Copeland, advanced to his eternal home on  June 23, 2025.

The family later moved to Cleveland, OHIO where he spent most of his formative years and lifelong friends were met.

Affectionately known as BIG MIKE, his presence commanded the room, not just in stature but by standard, the bar was high, his expectations were great and  his command for respect made for the design of the life we observed. Once beyond the firm exterior you were blessed to experience the big hearted man who loved to laugh, travel, dance, sing and create businesses. Most often you saw him with family and close friends.

HE LOVED HIS WIFE. HE LOVED HIS CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN.

HE LOVED HIS FAMILY.

His journey on this earth was one driven by passion, flowing through compassion, and finding unwavering faith in God. Mike loved the Lord.

After graduating South High School in Cleveland, OH, Mike joined the workforce. In parallel he started several businesses including one in lawncare where he took pride in employing his nephews and others teaching and showing them the art of business. He was a strategist, willing  to do the hard work. His Management skills were recognized early and created a space for him to quickly advance into leadership. After 30 years of service, Mike was blessed to retire from the City of Cleveland as the Assistant Commissioner at the early age of 49. During his retirement Mike and Lolita, his loving wife of  22 years, relocated to North Carolina, where they established a peaceful haven. While there Mike found time  to nurture his love of music by joining the Men’s choir at his church home New Beginnings Community Church.  He enjoyed riding his Harley with his new found group of buddies.

Mike and Lolita would later return to Ohio.

His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. A lot of us will miss the presence of the doer that he was.  If you called and made  mention  of a  need  he was  quick to fill it. He took  pride in being of service and never forgot his roots. Remember him for the way his life was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Remember him for the way his life was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
