Carolyn Collins, loved by a host of family and friends; departed this life December 12, 2025. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, January 03, 2026 at the Lucas Memorial Chapel 9010 Garfield Blvd.; Garfield Hts., Ohio 44125 and the family will receive friends one-half hour prior to service. Carolyn Collins was born on June 10th, 1957, in Williamson, West Virginia to parents Robert Cox and Hannah Cox (Johnson). After a prolonged battle with breast cancer, Carolyn went on to live with the Lord on Friday, December 12th, 2025. She left peacefully while at home surrounded by family.
Carolyn spent much of her earlier years in Cleveland, Ohio where she graduated from Glenville High School. She took pride in her education and later attended Kent State University. After moving to Delaware, she continued her pursuits and earned her Bachelor of Science in Degree in Textile and Apparel Studies from Delaware State University. There she not only graduated Suma Cum Laude but was also awarded excellence in foreign languages and cultural expose. She loved fashion merchandising and became an entrepreneur under Carolyn Collins Enterprises, cultivating elegance through the sale of woman’s clothing and accessories.
Carolyn met her husband Gregory Collins Sr. while attending Kent State University. The two never separated staying devoted to one another until her passing. They had two Sons Gregory Collins Jr. and Robert Collins II.
Carolyn was a member of New Destiny Fellowship in Wilmington, Delaware where under the leadership of Apostle Thomas Weeks Sr. she served as a women’s ministry leader, Sunday school teacher, and choreographer for praise dance worship. She loved the Lord and was ordained as an Elder. She also had a passion for the performing arts and took advantage of opportunities to take the stage dancing or acting when possible. She played major roles in theatres around Cleveland, OH, Philadelphia, PA, Dover, DE and Chestertown, MD. Some of the titles in which she performed include Fences, For Colored Girls Only, The Tapestry Project, and Stay Golden.
Carolyn wasn’t afraid of adventure and sought to spread love and opportunity as much as possible. She was passionate about teaching and working with disadvantaged youth. It could be said that she was most joyful when helping those in need. She valued spending time with family, crocheting, cooking and decorating during the holidays; all the holidays.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Gregory Collins of Bear, DE; her two sons Gregory Collins Jr.(Mini)and Robert Collins II of Bear, DE; her mother Hannah Cox of Cleveland, OH; her brother Robert Cox of Cleveland, OH; her sisters Marcella Cox and Earlene Cox of Cleveland, OH and Cathy Cox of Columbus, OH; her Grandson Carter Collins of Dallas TX; her sisters-in-law Gloria Garr (Robert) of Sandusky, OH and Bonnie Collins of Racine, WI ;special cousins Hillman Lindsey (Myrdis) of Woodmere, OH, Kelvin Lindsey (Barbara) of Columbus, OH, and Beverly Roberts (Willie) of Sandusky, OH.
Additionally, her memory lives through a multitude of nieces and nephews, including Tiera Sumpter (Kyle) of Houston TX; David Cox, Anthony Cox, Torion Cox, Eugene Cox, Taalib Adullah (Arrah), and Darrell Makupson (Ashley) of Cleveland, OH; Brandon Cox, Amber Makupson, and Tasha Robinson of Atlanta, GA; James Keys (Lisa) of Dayton, OH, Glenn Collins Jr. (Endelia) of Lorain, OH; Toby Hendrickson, Damita Collins, and Leta Page of Sandusky, OH; Cary Collins of Las Vegas, NV; Cyle Collins and Curtis Collins Jr. of Racine, WI; Tamara Collins and Landia Collins of Columbus, OH.
She was proceeded in death by her father Robert Cox, her sister Mary Cox, her sister Linda Cox, and her Anthony Cox.
