Jason Harper Lucas was born in the Cleveland area. He graduated from high school in Kansas City, Kansas. Jason attended Morehouse College and is a graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. After graduating, he furthered his skills at E.F. Boyd and Son Funeral Home in Cleveland, Ohio. In December 1999, his dream of having his own funeral home came true with the establishment of Lucas Memorial Chapel. Jason is very passionate about funeral service. He believes in the spirit of excellence. His compassion and prayers provide comfort and strength during the entire funeral process. In his free time he likes spending time with family, golfing and watching sports. He is a member of the Buckeye Funeral Directors Association and the Cuyahoga Funeral Directors Association, The Foresight Group and several other Funeral Home Associations. Jason is also a third generation Executive Board member of the Cleveland N.A.A.C.P and of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. In addition to being a funeral director, he is also part owner of Harper 1 Limousine Service. Jason also enjoys being a sponsor of The Garfield High School Basketball team and helping others in the community. Jason married Yolanda Hilliard in 1995 and they have one son, Jason Harper Lucas II. He believes that, All things are Possible with God.”
Yolanda Hilliard Lucas was born in Richmond, Virginia but she has lived in many different cities throughout the United States. Yolanda graduated from Southfield Lathrup High School in Southfield, Michigan. After high school she furthered her education at Hampton University and received a Bachelor of Science degree at Hampton University. After taking a marketing class, Yolanda decided to change her career path and pursue sales & marketing. She has worked at various prestigious companies: Xerox, Abbott, Bayer and Johnson & Johnson and have received several certifications and awards. Recently, Yolanda left her position as Regional Marketing Director on the executive team at Randall Residence, specializing in Senior Living.
Currently, Yolanda is the Community Outreach Director for Lucas Memorial Chapel. In addition, she’s working on The Lucas Legacy documentary! Telling our story of six generation of Lucas men achieving their dreams. In the last year, Yolanda has been speaking at different venues throughout the city. Sharing her personal testimony and providing encouragement and hope to others.
Yolanda is a member of the Hampton Alumni Association, Jack & Jill of America, Inc., N.A.A.C.P and serves on Lion Pride Parents Association at Lawrence School. In addition, she has served on several boards in Northeast Ohio.
One of her greatest passions is helping parents with children who have learning differences and sharing her story of early intervention and discussing the successful educational option of Lawrence School.
She loves helping making a difference in her community! Her other interests are history; writing, sports and spending time with her son Harper and husband Jason. Yolanda loves the Lord and believes in the POWER of prayer.
Harper is known as the miracle child! His parents, Jason and Yolanda Lucas desperately prayed and believed for ten years to have a baby! Jason Harper Lucas II was born on July 31,2007. Harper enjoys helping his Dad at the funeral home with greeting families and assisting with different tasks.
Harper attends Lawrence School. His favorite subject is Math.
Performing and speaking in front of others is one of his biggest passions. He’s performed at different venues; church, school talent shows and local theater. He was also featured in the Lucas Funeral Home commercial.
His favorite hobbies are NASCAR Races, Cars movie series, skiing, swimming and spending time with his family and friends. He also loves watching His Grandpa, Rev. Charles Payne Lucas Jr. minister at St. James A.M.E. Church in Cleveland, Ohio.
Jason and Yolanda were married on June 17, 1995 at Hampton University in Virginia. One of the prerequisites for Jason's proposal was that his wife must be comfortable with him owning his own funeral home and also the possibility of maybe living in one! Jason had two dreams... owning his own funeral home and joining the Daddy's club. They both have become reality. Jason and Yolanda were blessed with a baby boy after waiting for ten years! Jason "Harper" Lucas was born July 31, 2007. Jason & Yolanda are so grateful for all the prayers and support that has been extended to them.
